On August 23, my husband and I traveled to Frederick, Maryland to see the Color on the Creek project — a project to enhance the water quality and aesthetics of the Carroll Creek Linear Park in downtown Frederick. We found a charming water canal through town with a variety of plants, including lilies with large floating pads, water irises, cattails and lotus plants–both day and night blooming. We enjoyed the charming atmosphere and the pedestrian bridges crossing over the creek.
Since we were close to Thurmont, we headed to the Catoctin Mountain Orchard for an amazing blackberry-apple pie. Could not resist a few photos of the pick-your-own flowers from a garden full of zinnias, black-eyed susans, lisianthus and other varieties.
