After driving 8 hours through the night, Mark and I arrived in Charleston as Magnolia Plantation and Gardens opened for the day. The azaleas were just getting started; some bloom, but could be much better. We went on to check into Shem Creek Inn in Mount Pleasant (just outside the Holy City). The room had a balcony and the restaurants along the creek were very colorful when illuminated at night.

It was difficult to sleep though as I hadn’t thought about the sound of music … specifically different songs coming from each of the different restaurants until the businesses closed! Was able to rent another place on Folly Beach. We spent three nights in a house in the downtown area and found another house through a different rental company at the West End of Folly. Overall, we had great accommodations! We went to Riley Waterfront Park at the Pineapple Fountain in downtown Charleston for sunrise, but it seems the city doesn’t illuminate the fountain anymore. We had a little color over the harbor and azaleas in bloom.

Went back and forth to Magnolia until we had a day when the winds died down and the blooms were showing.

We also found Hampton Park and enjoyed strolling through the grounds there.

We had a wonderful time finding new restaurants and visiting old favorites. Hopefully, we can return again next year!
